I am planning to use either Aegir or OpenPanel on a fresh Debian server (1 gb RAM), and I am not sure which one to use. I am concerned that Aegir might be resource hungry, and I am not sure whether OpenPanel is well supported.

I am also planning on adding more security programmes like snort etc, hence my concern about memory. Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Why are you concerned Aegir would be resource hungry? Is open panel well supported by whom, and for what purpose? – Letharion Apr 23 '12 at 11:35
Aegir is based on drupal isnt it, and drupal is resource hungry. Point taken on open panel,nits just that i haven't found many reviews on it or support communities besides the developers website – Jasmine Ahmed Apr 23 '12 at 11:47
But a Drupal site is also not a background task. Most of the time, an Aegir site won't actually have visitors, and as such not require any significant resources. – Letharion Apr 23 '12 at 11:49
