d7: redirect Redirect all subpages back to the front page

I am trying to redirect everything (i.e. /* as in recursive) that is under example.com/pictures back to the frontpagefront page (ei.ge. I am hiding picture nodes to be directly viewable).

Well, neitherNeither the pathautoPathauto module nor the global redirectGlobal Redirect enablemodule allows me to do this (or I am overlooking something). And I cannot simply block users from viewing that particular node type.

Is thereit possible doing this with a module way? Should I hack something up? Would an .hthtaccess rewrite help me?

Thanks!I am interested in an answer for Drupal 7.
