Oct 12, 2017 at 15:10 comment added donquixote seems i was wrong, it is always expire = Session even after regular login. I will write an answer once I fully understand what's going on.
Oct 12, 2017 at 15:08 comment added Clive That's a really interesting outcome would you mind putting an answer in to that effect?
Oct 12, 2017 at 15:07 comment added donquixote It seems this is because I use drush uli one-time login link instead of a regular user/pw login. The login cookie will then have Expires = Session, which means closing the browser causes a logout.

Oct 10, 2017 at 14:34 comment added donquixote It does not seem like any such module is enabled. (searched for "user", "login", "logout", "session", "duration", "limit" in module list)
Oct 10, 2017 at 12:38 comment added Clive Could be any number of things really. Some contrib modules that do it for example: drupal.org/project/autologout, drupal.org/project/session_expire. There are probably more
