For some reason I cannot seem to get ckEditor working on my custom theme. It works fine on any admin pages (seven theme), but not my custom themed pages.

UPDATE: here are my file contents

INFO - http://pastebin.com/4Vmd4zY7

TEMPLATE - http://pastebin.com/XVRgQkrq

HTML - http://pastebin.com/DMqvgpum

ADD / EDIT - http://pastebin.com/vgftV6Lw (this is where the ckEditor textarea would be | page--node--add--vehicle.tpl.php)

UPDATE 2 : I have just enabled 'Seven' theme on admin pages (add/edit) and noticed that it includes the files:

  <script type="text/javascript" src="/sites/all/modules/ckeditor/includes/ckeditor.utils.js?nb3kel"></script>
  <script type="text/javascript" src="//cdn.ckeditor.com/4.4.3/full-all/ckeditor.js"></script>

So I presume there is somehing missing in my INFO somewhere? I thought that by simply installing an enabling the ckEditor module, it would automatically add in the necessary JS files and render them along with everything else in :

<?php print $scripts; ?>

UPDATE 3 : so I manually added those JS files to html.tpl.php and ckEditor is loading and working perfectly. So why aren't they getting loaded automatically with the module enabled?

  • can you post your .info, template.php and html.tpl / page.tpl files to something like pastebin.com so we can see where you might be going wrong? – Deryck Aug 30 '14 at 3:03
  • also post the source from a fully rendered custom-theme page – Deryck Aug 30 '14 at 3:04

Use Chrome/Mozilla DevTools to check for Javascript errors, there is a high chance that a Js error is breaking the CKeditor execution. Check also if the Javascript files for CKEditor are loading fine.

  • There are no JS errors on the site. It does look as though necessary JS files are not being loaded - I presumed they would be included along with all other scripts once the module was installed and enabled and printed with all other scripts in the header?? – kaipee Aug 31 '14 at 16:41
