I am having 2 issues with Drupal Bootstrap, I have no idea how to set a leaf specifically in the menu to not only be a glyph of a search icon, but also how to add the search block to the dropdown.

I am going to probably stop using the main-menu and just add a few regions for it!

If you're wanting to theme the menu items, you can:

  1. Use theme_menu_link() in your theme template to alter markup / attributes before rendering
  2. Use a contrib module https://www.drupal.org/project/menu_attributes to add a custom class name e.g. icon-left icon-myname
  3. Select the menu item via css and manually inject it there e.g.:

    .menu-class .mid-class:before {
    font-family: 'glyphicon';
    content: '\utf-char-code';
    /* other css here */

Adding the search block to the dropdown depends how you want to set this up, we'd need more specifics on what behaviour you're trying to achieve. Bear in mind that you can alter individual menu items through hooks in your template (e.g. theme_menu_link() above), and you can also render blocks programatically.

  • I am sorry my question was written incredibly poorly! I should have mentioned I am trying to use superfish, and what I am talking about is doing something like they do on this site highexistence.com with the search glyphicon dropping down into the search bar. thanks!
