I'm using the Dashboard module that comes with Drupal core. For roles that are not administrator, it is empty (permissions are set). I'm pretty sure it is because the theme isn't viewable. (Other roles do not see the backend theme.)

How can I change the dashboard theme to a custom theme?

For users who have access to Dashboard, remove their access to "use admin theme"; then they will by default use your theme.

  • There is no permission set for "View the administration theme" but the dashboard is still empty. If I set this permission, the Dashboard is shown. So it seems to depend on the theme somehow – scar Apr 27 '15 at 16:42
  • Permissions to work with dashobard are: View the administrative dashboard Customizing the dashboard requires the Administer blocks permission. You might want to use drupal.org/project/homebox to provide a custom dashboard for users. – pgrujic Apr 27 '15 at 18:24

With the help of the Switch Page Theme module, you can change the template based on roles and pages.
