As mentioned on its project page, module Admin:hover adds administrative links to nodes and blocks for users with proper permissions to easily edit content.

But it suffers a major security issue, as detailed in SA-CONTRIB-2012-006.

Does anyone know of any alternatives?

There are several other modules that do this (quotes are from the project pages of these modules, where available):

  1. Contextual Links (Backport of contextual.module in Drupal 7):

    Hover over nodes, blocks, and views blocks to expose styled edit/configure/delete tabs.
