I seem to be getting a lot of duplicate comments on my site and I think it has to do with the fact that users do not see their comment right after submitting it. I have it set so that an admin must approve it before it is published. Is there any way to make it so the user can only see his own comment on the node before it is published with a little notice that tells them it is in moderation?

  • The submission handler for the comment form (comment_form_submit()) already outputs a message when the comments are moderated: "Your comment has been queued for review by site administrators and will be published after approval." If those messages don't appear in your site, check the theme outputs the messages set with drupal_set_message(). – kiamlaluno Apr 12 '11 at 9:34
  • The messages do appear. That is not the issue. Many users still miss the message. I just recall being on a site a while back, where after I submitted a comment, I could see it right away listed in the comments (not viewable by anyone else though) and it just was highlighted as "awaiting moderation". i was hoping there might be a way to do this in drupal as well. – user842 Apr 13 '11 at 22:15
  • @Nigel Was that a Drupal site? – kiamlaluno Apr 13 '11 at 22:19
  • I don't think it was. However, I was hoping there might be something in Drupal already available? – user842 Apr 13 '11 at 22:58
  • @Nigel I checked, and I didn't find any Drupal 7 module that allows to do what you are asking, but it would not be difficult to create a custom module for that. As alternative, using Views, it would be possible to create a view for showing those comments. Depending on which solution you prefer, I can give a different answer. – kiamlaluno Apr 13 '11 at 23:09

Port this (or pay someone to port it) - it's very small, so won't take long at all... http://drupal.org/project/su_comments

It does exactly what you want, just no Drupal 7 version yet. =)
