In D7 there was a module called Bundle Copy that allowed exporting/importing the structure of a bundle. In a more painful manner this could also be done with Features. In D8 I think the same can be done piece by piece (not as easily as with Bundle Copy in D7) with CMI (Config Manager).

I'm wondering if there is any way of taking a bundle export (like that generated from Bundle Copy) from a D7 site and importing it do a D8 site.

    Features, basically. – Kevin Oct 23 '18 at 21:18
  • That's what my boss always wants me to do. To simply copy/paste everything instead of making it so damn difficult and time-consuming. Wait, are you my boss? – leymannx Oct 23 '18 at 21:27
  • Will Features actually work for this? I had thought Features in D8 didn't do all that much. – liquidcms Oct 24 '18 at 5:20

Features in D7 was the forerunner of what config management is in D8. Features in D8 is there to bundle config and sync or deploy them across multiple different pages (in parallel to the normal config management). I use it for all my multi-sites to keep similar stuff in sync without needing to configure everything separately on every single instance. – leymannx Oct 24 '18 at 8:06
  • Thank you, but yes, i know all of this.. but does this have anything to do with my question? Are you suggesting i can make a D7 feature consisting of my bundle config (bundle settings as well as field info) and then load that into a D8 site with features? As awesome as that sounds it does seem pretty unlikely. – liquidcms Oct 25 '18 at 16:30
