On admin/config/media/file-system, I changed the temporary directory to sites/default/files and it shows the following error. I set its file permissions to 777, but it doesn't work.

Warning: mkdir(): Permission denied in Drupal\Core\File\FileSystem->mkdirCall() (line 237 of core/lib/Drupal/Core/File/FileSystem.php). Drupal\Core\File\FileSystem->mkdirCall('sites/default/files ', 509, , NULL) (Line: 222)
Drupal\Core\File\FileSystem->mkdir('sites/default/files ', 509, 1, NULL) (Line: 1184)
The directory sites/default/files does not exist and could not be created.

  • You are trying to set the files directory as the temp directory. These should be separate directories. – Jaypan Mar 5 at 3:15

  • Too many possible issues here to say what your problem is. But I would start by setting the temporary directory to /tmp, and see if that helps. – Jaypan Mar 5 at 3:19
  • It stills show mkdir(): Permission denied in Drupal\Core\File\FileSystem->mkdirCall() Drupal\Core\File\FileSystem->mkdir(' /tmp', 509, 1, NULL) – Vu Anh Mar 5 at 3:22

    Then you'll need to point it at a temporary directory on your server. Usually this is located at /tmp, but it appears that it does not exist on your server. So you'll need to do a bit of work to track down the location of the temporary directory on your system. – Jaypan Mar 5 at 3:24
