In Drupal 7, i have a view named say default-view to display results.

I have disabled the default search and enable module 'Search API' and Search API SOLR (used for Backend) to perform search in Drupal 7, along with search api solr views.

When i create a new view, with the same indexed fields, i get as a format option to display only fields. How could i, and which files should i copy, so as to have my solr view display results exactly like the database view? (content- inline block of results)

A database view is probably akin to a table view.

Yes so in views, which is now a module in core Drupal, when you create a view I think it defaults to a content view. This works with node content as defined in content types and other entities AFAICT. These also have display modes that are defined in your content type or entity. If content view is selected then this leaves the fields area greyed out.

To enable field view, under the Format heading of your view you can usually change this to display fields instead. This allows you to select your fields that are available on your view and these can also be filtered by content type etc if required. The default options for a field view are:

  • Grid
  • HTML List
  • Table
  • Unformatted list
  • other data structures/views as defined by custom module or otherwise.

e.g. have a look at the default comments view.

  • Can you expand this a little? I think I understand what you are trying to say, but I am not positive. Thanks. – mpdonadio Oct 1 at 23:53
  • i would appreciate a small clarification also please, for the normal database view i have some settings in the display fields section. How can i use this display in a search api solr based view? – wodife Oct 2 at 10:54
