Besides the module which has many interesting features, what's the best way to allow authenticated users publish content (based on a custom node type), but only allow such content to be seen only by an administrator (an specific role), or that same user only? Such content when published, will only be visible to a role type (administrator) and the user who published it.

For node access, you should set permissions based on role.

It is /admin/people/permissions on Drupal 7.

Yo can set who can view, edit , create any of your content type based on role.

For more grained field permission based on role, use Field Permission module

  • Great module! field Persmission module seems to work perfect to set field permissions to private; although, does the field permission's module work on nodes? I set node access permissions based on roles, making published nodes private to anonymous users, but I want to make nodes private to other authenticated users, only the user that published the node and an administrator can see it. Is it possible with field permission modules? – gabrielkkim Sep 10 '12 at 18:43
  • Field permission is only for fields. For nodes, there are other modules, like drupal.org/project/nodeaccess – NenadP Sep 11 '12 at 12:47
