How to add_js per content type in my module?

Question

I'm looking for a way for my module to evaluate the content type in a preprocess hook and conditionally add some javascript.

Theme_preprocess_page() makes the content type accessible plus some other useful things (I could differentiate between nodes & views & such), but I can't use it because it is likely to have already been declared by the theme.

*My_module*_preprocess_page() doesn't appear to provide the content type anywhere.

What is a good option here?

Here's how to add content type specific javascript to a node using hook_node_view and #attached
